Tarzana art exhibit celebrates the work of nearly 70 seniors

TARZANA >> Art has no age limits

That’s the theme of “The Art of Creative Aging” exhibit featuring 260 art works by 69 up-in-years artists at the San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center in Tarzana.

“This exhibit is an opportunity to show that the arts know no age limits. … That creativity is the driving force behind the positive attitude of staying young,” said Carolyn Uhri, president of the Tarzana gallery, in a statement. “This philosophy encompasses both health and wellness.”

Most paintings, photographs and other art hung in galleries includes an artist’s name, title and price. But this show has added one more category: the artists 50-plus age.

“This one small addition to the label often surprises the one who is viewing the art,” Uhri said.

“The Creative Art of Aging” will run through Saturday at the San Fernando Valley Arts & Cultural Center at 18312 Oxnard St. The center is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. www.sfvacc.org.
